Do you remember still the falling stars
that like swift horses through the heavens raced
and suddenly leaped across the hurdles
of our wishes--do you recall? And we
did make so many! For there were countless numbers
of stars: each time we looked above we were
astounded by the swiftness of their daring play,
while in our hearts we felt safe and secure
watching these brilliant bodies disintegrate,
knowing somehow we had survived their fall.
~Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by Albert Ernest Flemming
Caught quite a few falling stars in the past few nights, so this is just a little tribute to the wonderful month of August, the month of the meteor showers in the Perseus constellation, as well as just a great warm time to escape to the countryside like I did, and lie under the open eternity of the sky, travelling, travelling, travelling.... till you are completely in the unknown, in the space without borders, till there is no time, no you... nothing but the vast blinking eyes of the Universe looking back at you, looking from within you to the face of the Divine.
Beautiful! Just reading your words makes me long to be in a vast open field view the vast of field of infinite space!
ReplyDeleteI liked the video you selected too... it's playfulness will is infectious, but the chorus is subtle wisdom! I hope you caught one for yourself!
